TATTOO POLICIES

Thank you for your interest in getting tattooed!
Every tattoo artist has a unique approach to their craft, so I have created this page to outline my personal tattoo process and policies. I hope this information can help you understand how I work and what to expect when collaborating with me on your next tattoo!

As you may have seen in my portfolio, I specialize in black and gray illustrative work. I welcome a wide range of subject matters and enjoy taking all sorts of projects. However, it’s important to note that all designs will be rendered in my unique artistic style, as showcased in my portfolio. Please take a look through my portfolio before booking to ensure this aligns with your vision.

-TATTOOS I ACCEPT & HOW TO SUBMIT AN IDEA -

Creative freedom is highly valued in my work, and my style may not align with every request I receive. I am confident in my ability to recognize which ideas I can execute well and which would be better suited for another artist. My priority is to create tattoos that I am proud of and that you will love. If I feel I cannot deliver a design to my standards, I will respectfully decline the project or recommend another artist who might be a better fit.

When proposing a tattoo idea, please consider the following guidelines:

Simplicity: Effective tattoo designs are often simplified. Ideally, a tattoo should feature no more than 3 elements unless it is a very large piece or sleeve.

Examples of three elements:

• A lantern (element 1) with a hand holding it (element 2) and flames encompassing it. (supporting element 3)

• A raven with flowers in the background and a locket in the birds talons.

It’s perfectly fine if your idea has fewer than three elements. However, if it exceeds three, the tattoo should be substantial in size if it has a chance of working. This approach allows me to arrange the elements aesthetically and ensures the design is detailed enough to age well.

I also encourage you to include specific artistic details that are important to your design. Additionally, it is helpful to mention any elements you do not want included. For example, using the raven design mentioned above, you might say:

“A raven with florals in the background and a locket in the raven’s talons. I would like the raven to have three eyes and for the eyes to be white, with a dripping effect, and no roses. I am open to the composition of the elements”

Reference photos can also be a helpful tool for communicating a vision. Feel free to include any references you find!

While rendering your idea, I will try to keep to the prompt that you give as much as possible. For example, Some of my designs are known for having whited out eyes and dripping/ swirly marks, though I will generally only include this if it is implicitly requested. it’s massively helpful to know in your request any details that you do or do not want!

Please note I do not currently tattoo front/side necks, knuckles, or faces.

I am only booking out 2 months at a time for now, and this requires me to be selective about the projects to take on during this timeframe. I especially like tattooing anything ‘spooky’ , gothic, neotraditional inspired, or nature inspired.

BOOKING

Once your idea is accepted, we do require a $200 deposit to hold your appointment date. This will come off of the last hour of your tattoo. If your tattoos broken up into multiple sessions, it will come off of the last hour of the last session.

The deposit is to ensure that my time for drawing and preparation is covered in the event of a no-show for last minute reschedule. When you reschedule last minute, I often don’t have time to get somebody else in. I’ve already spent my drawing time that week drawing your design, and will likely not have enough time to find somebody else to fill the slot.  If you do have to reschedule, I am very understanding, and I get that things happen. I just ask that if you are able to please give me as much of a heads up as you can.

When your appointment date is accepted, you will get a confirmation text sent to your device. If you ever book an appointment and you don’t get this confirmation text, please contact me to ensure that your appointment is saved correctly.

If you have any questions before your appointment date, please feel free to contact me via email (lifecyclz.tattoos@gmail.com) and I’m happy to answer any questions you have. I am running a one woman business, and sometimes it takes me a little while to answer because I seem to be constantly tied up, but I try to answer all messages within a day or two.

If I have any questions prior to your appointment about your design, I will reach out to touch base but other than that I will see you at the appointment!

THE STUDIO:

I am currently working inside of a private studio located at the Hope Artist Village in Pawtucket Rhode Island. The address for the building is 999 Main St.  I will send any new clients instructions and a video on how to find a space for the first time to make sure that you find it easily without getting lost. The space is small, so I encourage you to come alone or just bring one guest with you.

My hours of operation or Tuesday through Saturday, 1pm-9pm

Tattoo appointments start at 12:30 and go until 8:30.

DESIGN PROCESS:

All tattoo designs are uniquely crafted for each client. During the booking process, I encourage you to include reference photos for inspiration; however, these photos will not be copied directly. Creating a custom tattoo design can take anywhere from 3 to 10 hours, or sometimes more. Please keep in mind that this work is done in my free time outside of shop hours. The hourly rate for your tattoo reflects the extensive drawing and preparation involved.

While drawing a tattoo design I take into consideration the space on your body and your unique anatomy. From there, I position the elements in the most aesthetically pleasing way, drawing inspiration from your request in reference to pictures throughout the way . Designs are drawn the same week of your appointment date, Sometimes the day before if it’s a busy week.

You will see your design on the day of your appointment at the scheduled time. If revisions are needed, they will be made during the appointment. If the changes are significant, a reschedule may be necessary. This is why it’s important to be as clear as possible when explaining your tattoo idea and expectations.

Please note that I  am more than happy to make any changes to make the design perfect for you.  Small changes can be done the day of no problem, while large changes will require a reschedule. You will not lose your deposit in this circumstance! I want your tattoo to be perfect for you.

How long will my tattoo take?

Most tattoos at any size take anywhere from 4-12 hours to complete. The bigger or more detailed the tattoo is, the longer it will take. Small but detailed tattoos can take just as long as large but simplified ones. If you have a low pain tolerance or a hard time sitting for multiple hours, you may want to consider breaking your tattoo into two or more sessions. Some projects are extensive and will take multiple sessions to complete. Please be prepared for this!

Once I hear your idea, I can give you a better understanding of how long that piece might take. Sometimes it can be hard to estimate, but I’m getting pretty good at it. This will factor into the price estimate that is sent to you.

Important: I am a natural talker, and being the extrovert I am I adore chatting with my clients. Unfortunately I have an incredibly difficult time while multitasking. Conversation can sometimes slow down my tattooing to half the speed which is a huge bummer, and I know you do not want to sit (or pay) for that.  I encourage you to bring headphones, a book to read, or enjoy the TV available in my station during the tattoo process while I use as many brain cells is possible to focus on the task at hand.

PRICING:

Hourly Rate: My rate is $200 per hour. you will only be charged for the actual tattoo time, not the stenciling time. To ensure your design fits within your budget, please specify your budget in the inquiry form. I also send out price estimates to my clients prior to booking, however, this does not ensure that the budget you wrote in your form will match the design that you were asking for. If you have any questions about pricing, don’t be shy!

Cash is preferred, but Venmo and card are also accepted. There is not an ATM on site.

As mentioned in the “Design” section, custom tattoo designs can take anywhere from 3 to 10 hours to create. This work is done in my free time outside of shop/tattooing hours. The hourly rate for your tattoo reflects the numerous hours of drawing, late nights, and preparation that go into each piece. Additionally, only the highest quality equipment is used for each tattoo, which is factored into the price as well as other basic operation costs.

Deposit: A $200 nonrefundable deposit is required upon booking your appointment. This deposit is non-refundable and will be deducted from the cost of your final hour of tattooing. Appointments canceled within 48 hours of the appointment date will require a new deposit to rebook.
